Truth

Last night, when Abby was in the bathtub, she said, "I'm learning to follow directions of mommy and daddy." Oh, if only that was true.

If only everything a three year old says was true:

"I didn't hit my sister."
"I didn't give my brother paper."
"I didn't stick a tablet in my nose."
"I didn't pee on that book."
"I didn't stick my hand in syrup."
"I didn't put soap on my toothbrush."
"I didn't wipe poop on that towel."

Seth Update

I feel like I haven't posted anything about Seth in a while, so, here's a little update on the boy. As of Saturday, he actually likes to eat "solid" food. He'll keep opening his mouth for more and more. He likes peas, avocados, bananas, tofu, and rice cereal.

He got his first tooth last week (the front, bottom, right one) and is now getting it's neighbor. His favorite thing to teethe on right now is watermelon rind.

Also, tonight is the first night he is sleeping in his own room. Well, I hope he'll be sleeping. He's been looking so big in the co-sleeper that he's been in in our room. Now, sleeping in his crib, he looks so small! Anyway, here's to hoping for a good night of sleep:)

A Day On The Farm

On Saturday I hosted a friends' baby shower, so Carey had to take all three kids out of the house for a few hours. He met my parents and they all went out to "A Day On The Farm", an event that was happening at the fair grounds that day.
The girls got to grind corn

pump water

play games from "the olden days"

milk a cow (well, a fake one)

make corn husk dolls

I was told that they had a great time and that the morning was free of any meltdowns (how come I never get a morning like that?)! Oh ya, and they tasted some fresh goat cheese and on Sunday afternoon, the first thing Abby said when she woke up from her nap was, "Mom, that goat cheese was really good." Apparently it made an impact!

The Tea Parties Are Working!

On Friday morning we went out to breakfast as a family. That was the first time we took the girls to an actual restaurant (as opposed to places like Fresh Choice where you pay ahead of time so that you can abort the mission if need be) and they did SO well. The waitress did not believe us when we said it was their first time in a restaurant. They were polite. They didn't spill anything. They talked quietly. It was really great.

The Artists

Today was the first time the girls each drew a picture, that, when they told us what they had drawn, we could see it!

Abby drew a spider:

Haley drew a bus:

If you look carefully you can see the yellow wheels. She said that buses need a lot of wheels!

90 Degree Fun

Oh, we had such a beautiful day in Soquel today. It was in the low 90's and just so gorgeous. We set up the kiddy pool, made some iced tea, slathered on the sunscreen and went into the back yard.
Auntie Laura joined us in the pool!
Daddy took over the pool at one point.
