Camping Time!

On Sunday we left town to go camping at Clear Lake State Park. Our friend Laura came with us, and we met Carey's family and my family up there. It was our first camping trip with the girls and they were troopers. I wanted to go home almost as soon as we got there (never camp when you are 8 months pregnant!) but they did so good. We ended up staying a day shorter than we had planned, but had fun while we were there.

A Day On The Farm

On Thursday, the girls and I spent the morning with Auntie Stacey and LOTS of farm animals! Her parents have some beautiful property with an emu, alpacas, chickens, a donkey, horses, goats, sheep, a miniature cow, and probably some animals I'm forgetting.

They rode a horse for the first time. Abby rode it all over the place (someone was leading the horse, of course) and did not want to get off. When Haley said "I want to ride the horse", Abby said "No!"



I honestly did not think that Haley would actually even sit on the horse, let alone ride it, but she did. She wanted me to hold onto her arm as she rode, but still, she rode a horse. I just was so shocked.

I'm So Proud!

Well, I should have taken pictures to prove it, but last night Abby and Haley SHARED THEIR SHOES with their friends Sarah and Rebecca! We had our friends and their daughters over for dinner last night and all four girls played so nicely in Abby and Haley's room, spreading out and trying on their many pairs of shoes. This is coming from Haley, who is IN LOVE with her shoes and Abby, who, if a child at the park even walks past the swing she is on screams "no" or "mine" at them! It was so fun to see that they are becoming capable of at least parallel play!

Stacey-I'm sure you'll be extra impressed, since you saw them (and their moods) a lot yesterday!

Wednesday Night Concerts

On Wednesday nights in the summer the city of Capitola puts on free, outdoor concerts in the Capitola Village. We love to walk down there and enjoy the music (and the great dancers!) with our friend Laura.



The girls tend to be a bit mesmerized by the musicians playing their instruments!

1 Year!

Today is our one year anniversary as a four person family! Carey and I thought it would be fun to start a tradition of celebrating this date, so we braved taking the girls out to dinner. We walked to Fresh Choice (which took about a million years because the girls walked as well), since kids two and under eat free! Also, we figured it was good that you pay in the beginning in case we had to abort the mission halfway through dinner:) The girls did really good though.





Another reason we chose Fresh Choice was for the frozen yogurt, since the girls are big fans. They even got to have sprinkles on top!

4th Of July

We had such a fun 4th of July. In the morning we took the girls to "The World's Shortest Parade" in Aptos. For those of you who haven't been, I'm pretty sure it's just the shortest distance, because it's a LOOOONG parade for being the world's shortest! It has everything from a whole group of weiner dogs to little gymnasts to dancing jellyfish to marching bands and even a HUGE pigeon that walks along and poops (shaving cream)!

Our friend "auntie Laura" (in the red) and her roomie Dawn came with us. We met some friends there (Juliet is the child that's not ours!)

I think my favorite part of the parade was when a convertible drove by with the driver and passenger wearing Bill and Hillary Clinton masks and Abby got so excited, pointing and yelling "A princess! A princess! Hi princess". Apparently, we've got a couple people running for president and one running for Queen!

After the parade (and a slight meltdown, of course) we went home for naps. Once the girls (and Carey) woke up, we headed over to Carey's grandma's house for some fun in the pool and delicious bbq. We had such a fun day together and can't wait to celebrate the 4th next year as a family of FIVE!
