Monterey Bay Aquarium

We recently got some free tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and they expire on Monday. So, this morning we packed a lunch, hopped in the car, picked up our friends Josh and Becca and headed off for a morning of fun.

Uncle Josh

Auntie Becca

If you look carefully at this picture you can see that we debuted our child-leash! We've had it since September, but never used it. I can't actually remember why we bought it, but it sure was nice to have today. Abby is a total wanderer, so the leash made it more fun for all of us!

One of the first things that we did was visit the jellyfish. I thought the girls might be a little nervous because it's dark and there are lots of strange creatures, but they loved it.

We also went to the Outer Bay exhibit and watched them feed the gigantic tuna. One of them was so big that Becca and I were sure it could probably feed all the starving people in India!

I think this is a life-size cut-out of a tuna. The biggest ones were bigger than this!

I think my favorite part was the penguins. Not because they were so cute (although they were) but because the girls kept YELLING at them to get in the water. I thought it was hilarious. Abby and Haley were getting really frustrated that the penguins weren't following directions!

Sitting in a penguin egg (I'm assuming this was larger than life-size)

When we felt like we were getting dangerously close to melt-down time, we went outside to enjoy our lunch.

We had a picnic (minus a blanket and basket) on some benches that faced the ocean.

What a fun morning it was!

Feeding The Birds!

Translation (if necessary): "Birdies, where are you?" "I have some birdseed."

A Starbucks Date

On Friday we met daddy on his lunch break for a picnic and then we went to Starbucks. The girls just got plain, cold milk, but they got it in Starbucks cups! On the way home, Haley was singing about our time with daddy. She sang "We go to the park. We have a picnic. Abby spilled her milk. Daddy got her more." It's true, too! So funny!

The Beach

The girls and I have been enjoying the beach the last few days. Well, I've enjoyed it; they've sort of enjoyed it sort of been a little "nervous". Last night at dinner I told the girls to tell daddy what we did that day and Abby said "I go the beach. I go in ocean. I freak out." It was so funny. We laughed about it for quite some time! Then, today, my mom was able to come to the beach with us, so we could each take a two year old in the water, and they got over their fear. REALLY got over their fear. I kept suggesting to Abs that we go dry off and warm up a little and she kept telling me "I in the water. I have fun." When we finally got out of the water she kept begging to "go in ocean".

Our First Walk

Today, we went on our first "stroller-less" walk. The four of us (well, five of us if you count Seth, but he didn't walk) walked to Brommer St. park, which is around the corner from our house. The girls did SO great walking there and back. Carey and I were so excited that they could do it (in flip-flops, none-the-less)!

Big Sisters!

Baby Seth got his first gift today, and since he can't open gifts yet (seeing as though he is still in the womb) his big sisters happily opened it for him.

Seth got some darling hats, bibs, onsies, wash cloths, and towels. Haley quickly set out to dress one of her dolls in a new onesie!

Abigail's favorite part of the gift was the tissue paper, and she spent a fair amount of time making herself a little bed out of it!
