Beach Fun!

Oh, we have been having SO much fun at the beach lately. For my birthday, my mother and father-in-law got me a California state park pass, which makes it super easy to park at lots of the nearby beaches (thank you Steve and Jackie). I'm pretty sure we've already made it worth it in just the last couple weeks. It sure is A LOT of work to get to the beach (all the sunscreening, snack packing, calming fights over who gets the heart swimsuit, making sure we have towels and sweatshirts, etc), not to mention carrying all the stuff from the parking lot to the edge of the water. I will assure you, though, that it is all worth it. All the kids are so happy at the beach. I am calmer at the beach (the sand and ocean are just so calming). The sound of any screaming just sort of dissipates into all the space. They can run, dig, jump, find treasures, fall, roll, chase birds, bury eachother, and best of all, get wet!

Seth seems to make it a goal to get as sandy as possible!

Uncle Nate really likes to show his nieces and nephew the tide pools. He's so good about checking the tide charts and letting us know when it's low tide.

New Stuff For The Webber Kids:)

Seth was recently upgraded to a regular booster seat at the table.  He loves it and is so happy to be at the table with us.

The other new thing in our home is a doll house.  I finally got the girls a doll house and it has been such a hit.  They LOVE it (of course) and play quietly with it for up to an hour (if they are not playing with it together!), which I really love:)  Seth likes to point out the different things and tell me what they are: couch, light, table!

Recent Quotes

The other day, Abby was eating clam chowder for lunch and pulled a small piece of clam out of her mouth.   "Mom, what's this slimy thing?"  I told her it's clam and she put it back in her mouth.  She pulled it back out of her mouth and clarified, "Dead clam?".  Yes, I assured her, it's dead.  Back in the mouth, then back out.  "But mom, what's clam?".  I reminded her of the shells that close up, and how there's a little animal, clam, living inside.  "Oh, so the shell is dead and they just open it and pull out the clam and they cut off his eyes and they cut off his butt and they put him in the soup."  Yes, Abby, that's exactly how it goes!

This morning as we were driving we saw a couple dead deer on the side of the road.  Haley asked if someone was going to scoop them up, and I told her that deer are so heavy that it would take a really strong person.  After a few moments of quiet, she told me "If I saw a dead tiger on the side of the road, I could pick him up because I'm SO strong.  But what would we do with it?  Would we put it in the garbage?"  I told her that tigers are much too big to fit in the trash can.  We all agreed that we didn't want a dead tiger in the car.  "I know.  We could just drop it in the water...then the fish could eat it."  Man, these kids are full of great ideas!

Seth's greatest quote is that if you say "row, row, row your..."  he will say "boat".

Easter...finally

First of all, sorry it's been SO long since I've blogged.  We've had a lot of nights lacking in sleep lately, and I've been unmotivated to blog after the kids go to bed.  I'm sure many of you have been just DYING to know about our Easter (who isn't, really?), so here you go:)

The Easter celebration started with an egg hunt at school for the girls.  It was SUPER cold and started raining right in the middle of it, but none of the kids seemed to mind (although Seth and I did). 

I almost got a picture with the Jose the llama in the back, but he moved when the girls ran over there (he's a bit skittish).

On Saturday we went to an Easter egg hunt at a local church.  As we were driving in, we saw the Easter bunny, and Seth burst into tears.  I don't really understand why it seems to be impossible to make a cute Easter bunny costume.  Bunnies are awfully cute.  Anyway, after that, Seth was very concerned about running into the bunny, and was on the lookout the whole time!

We are ready to go hunting, and we'll use our baskets as umbrellas if it rains!

We met "auntie neighbor Katie" there, and she and Abby made Easter bonnets.  Katie can pretty much make ANYTHING.  She's amazing (and was incredibly helpful to have with us at the hunt).

Look in Haley's basket...I was watching her pass multiple eggs, and was trying to figure out what she was doing.  When I caught up with her to take this picture, I realized that she was going for the pink ones!

It was a good thing that we went to the hunt on Saturday, because Easter was really not "Easter-y".  It was rainy and dreary.  The kids all had gross runny noses, so they had to stay home from the worship gathering at our church.  But, they did still get their Easter baskets!

I put these organic, all fruit, fruit by the foot sort of things in there, and Abby laughed and laughed with glee when she unrolled hers and saw how long it was!

After naps, we went to my parents' house, where a couple dear friends (Auntie Laura and Auntie neighbor Katie), and Carey's parents and sister joined us for a delicious Easter dinner.
