Gilroy Gardens

On Wednesday morning, our dear friends the Orlandos called and invited us to go to Gilroy Gardens with them. We love the Orlandos and had so much fun with them. We had a little unplanned "park warm-up" when we pulled up to a locked gate at Gilroy Gardens at 10:00. Apparently they don't open until 11:00. So, we went to a playground not too far away and played until around 11:00, then went back for a second try. The second time we made it in, and once we got in, we had a blast.

*Thanks to Unky for all the great pictures taken on his awesome, new camera:)

Growing Up

The girls are really seeming so grown up lately. I feel like they are practically ready to go off to kindergarten. They look older and are having such good conversations and are just so fun right now. Anyway, case in point, the other morning Abby brought the hair clip that she picked out to wear that day and started to hand it to me. Then, she stopped and said "No, I'm capable," and proceeded to successfully put it in her hair. Yep, she hardly needs me anymore!

This whole "eating solid foods" thing is really hard for my inner neat freak!

First Run-In With The Law!

Unfortunately, no one has created my genius invention of a carseat that kids can't get out of, so, often times as we're driving along, I hear "mom, Abby unbuckled herself" or "Haley unbuckled herself". Now, I always tell the girls that things will make them bloody, because they understand that a lot more than "dead". So, I am always explaining to them that it's really important to stay buckled because if we got in a crash, they would get bloody.

The other day I was so frustrated with the unbuckling that we took a little detour to drive around the parking lot of the county building. I thought that would be a good place to find a sheriff. It wasn't. But, yesterday morning, I looked out our front window and noticed a Highway Patrol parked a little bit down the street. So, we took a little field trip to get a lesson from a "police officer" (I don't know if that's the correct name for a highway patrol). I asked him if he would mind telling my daughters how important it is to stay buckled and he said that was actually his WHOLE job that day; ticketing people for not wearing seatbelts.

Abby, being the friendly child that she is, enthusiastically told him about her new tutu. The officer then told the girls that if they unbuckled themselves, that we would be pulled over and the police man would write mommy and daddy a ticket AND he would TAKE AWAY THEIR TUTUS! Isn't that awesome? It's only been two days, but they have not unbuckled since.

Pool and Pizza Party!

On Sunday we went to a SUPER fun pool and pizza party. The parents of one of our friends from our Bible study built a pizza oven in their backyard and invited our whole Bible study over for a fun afternoon of swimming and eating! Their backyard was BEAUTIFUL. They had made massive amounts of homemade pizza dough and had every sort of sauce, cheese, and topping that you can imagine. It was so fun to hang out with friends, create delicious pizzas, and play in the pool. It was the first time the girls really played in a pool. Abby put her face in the water a few times as well as going all the way under (and touching the bottom with her foot)! She was quite the fish. They loved playing and playing and playing on the steps, too.
THANK YOU MIKE AND PAM!

Abby enjoyed some non-alcoholic sangria after her dip in the pool.

Sleeping

I recently posted that it was Seth's first night sleeping in his crib, and the update is that he is doing so well. He's had two nights of sleeping through the night, and all the other nights he's only woken up once!
