Picnic

We had our first picnic of the year last week. We met Carey on his lunch break and went to the park near his office. We enjoyed the sun and the girls LOVED climbing a tree near our blanket.

All Packed Up!

You have no idea how long it takes us to get to this point:

Fun Pants!

My girls are the queens of mud at their preschool. So, a couple of weeks ago I picked them up and Abby's pants were very muddy (see above picture). Haley looked at her as they were climbing into the car and said "Looks like Abby had fun in those pants"! Then, yesterday, my mom went with me to pick the girls up, and as we were climbing in the car, she said to Abby "It looks like you had fun today." Haley turned to Abby and said "Let me see your pants, Abs"! I laughed to hard!

"Solid" Food for Seth!

Today I gave Seth his first non-breastmilk meal! It was a whopping teaspoon of liquidy rice cereal! He seemed to like it, and loved his sippy afterward. He's such a big boy:)

Party Of The Century!

Today we had a "happy adoption day" party for the girls and it was SO fun. We hired a "professional princess" from a party planning company, had dress up clothes for the kids to wear, and had a bounce house (and a couple patio heaters, which were my favorite things!). It was the party of the century, if I do say so myself. Oh, and before I say anything else I need to say that every since I chose the date for the party, I've been praying and praying that it wouldn't rain. Well, it didn't start raining until about a half hour after the party ended:) Praise God!

Anyway, back to the party hoopla:) Of course, the kids all loved the bounce house.


Then, when the princess walked into the back yard, the little girls came from all over the place and were drawn to her instantly. It was really funny to watch. They LOVED sitting and listening to her stories and playing her little games. We adults had fun watching the kids interact with her.






After she told a story with puppets and played a few games with the kids, Cinderella did some face painting. Abby got a crown and Haley got a little dog. In the car on the way home, Haley said "but, mom, I'm really sad because I wanted a brown, brown horse and the princess said just a dog. Maybe she can't draw a horse. I can draw a horse, though." Oh, and Abby got a little hand mirror and walked around looking at herself (I saw her run into things a couple times)!






We are both so proud of how well the girls handled all the excitement (and sugar). They are so fun and special and we love them to pieces!

Some Conversations

This afternoon the girls were riding bikes in the front yard, and Abby rode right into the street, then just stopped in the middle. I got her back into the driveway and was trying to explain to her what could happen to her in the middle of the street. It went like this:

Me: The cars come around the corner really fast and they can't see you. They don't think there's gonna be a little girl on her bike in the street.

Abby: Ya.

Me: If the car hits you, you might die. Or bleed a lot (which, to the girls is worse than dying).

Abby: Yup, and get smooshed.

Haley: Then we'd have to go get a new Abby.

Me: Nope. You can't get a new person. There's just one Abby.

Haley: How sad.


Abby wanted to go say hi to our mail-lady, Denise, and she was wearing a "princess dress".

Abby: HI DENISE.

Denise: Hi, honey. You look so pretty today.

Abby: I know!


In the car, driving up the coast...

Haley: See that hill, mom?

Me: Yes

Haley: We need to tell Daddy. He ride his mountain bike on that hill.


Also in the car...

Haley: Mom, can we play duck, duck goose when we get home?

Me: Sure

Haley: But mom, we need A LOT of kids.


Goodness, I know when I sat down to write this I had more, but I can't think of them. Oh well. I'll have to save them for another post!
